Everyone\'s favorite bloodthirsty Spartan is back, and, as usual, he\'s pissed. In this prequel to the other two God of War titles, you\'ll help Kratos save the planet from eternal darkness. God of War: Chains of Olympus delivers the same insane action and impeccable quality of the previous PlayStation 2 editions, and that is an accomplishment for a title with both a brand new developer (the capable Ready at Dawn) and a brand new console. This is the best reason so far to blow the dust off your PSP. Check out our review.

Gears of War is considered one of the best shooters on the Xbox 360, scratch that, one of the best shooters period. But But Epic\'s gruesome stop-and-popper is still second best on Xbox Live losing to a last generation Halo 2. It\'s a great game, sure, but it has problems. Serious problems. This came out of nowhere. The studio formerly known as Irrational (they changed their two divisions\' names to 2K Australia and 2K Boston) get a big pat on the back for sneaking their demo onto Xbox Live on Sunday. Bioshock, which puts you through the eyes of a crash victim who gets stuck in the underwater dystopia known only as Rapture, just went gold last week. Now, we\'ll get to sample what we\'re betting is going to be a ground-braking experience.

There\'s an interesting article written back in 2006 that asks the question, \"Why is Microsoft still in the gaming industry?\" After losing $5.4 billion between 2001 and 2006, what incentive does Microsoft have to stay in the home console market? In fact, Microsoft has no incentive, unless you look at what the entertainment division does for Microsoft as a whole. Microsoft wants to keep control of the living room away from companies like Sony and Apple, and uses the Xbox 360 as a strategic tool for a larger company vision independent of its individual profits or losses. Additionally, there\'s an 800-lb gorilla in the room that keeps getting overlooked: XNA.

Microsoft Game Studios\' head Shane Kim sat down with GameDaily and they talked about everything from the Xbox 360\'s performance in 2006 to the negative feedback the PlayStation 3 has been garnering from a majority of the online press. He\'s fairly candid about his feelings in regard to Nintendo and Sony. And although he does a fair share of boosting Microsoft\'s image, he does have some constructive criticism about Microsoft as well. More inside.

We probably don\'t even have to publish this review, because World of Warcraft is a game that carries its own legion of fans. The ever-popular World of Warcraft\'s first expansion, The Burning Crusade, is here, and WoW players will absorb it into the fold simply because it\'s more of what they already love: World of Warcraft. If you managed to pry yourself from the game, then don\'t get the expansion...because you might find it hard to walk away again. The powers that be have opened new doors to adventure, and it\'s hard to turn your back on that a second time.

The golf featured in Wii Sports introduced a lot of casual gamers to a virtual sport many of them would never have touched on their own. Yet Wii Sports Golf is hardly a complete game, and has only one full course. Tecmo has stepped forward to offer Super Swing Golf, a more complete golf title that combines an odd mix of more challenging golf elements and overly-stylized presentation. Without online play, Super Swing may be missing a key element, but with a dozen courses and more golf features it serves as competent follow-up to what Nintendo started back when the Wii launched.

The PS3 has not had an easy launch. While the mainstream media has been treating the system very MTV-like (with unquestioning adoration), Sony\'s street credit amongst the hardcore has been taking almost daily blows. From problems with HDTV support to shortages at launch, Sony just hasn\'t been getting the positive consumer response they probably wanted. Now, Joystiq.com is reporting on a YouTube video that highlights just how bad PS2 games look when run on the PS3\'s backwards compatibility. The side-by-side comparison video between a PS2 game running on the PS3 vs. an actual PS2 is really fairly stunning. The PS2 beats the PS3 hands down, and does so clearly enough that you don\'t have to be picky to notice the difference. Check out the article for more information.

Sometimes funny things happen when advertising campaigns collide. In the latest Game With Fame opportunity, gamers are being given the chance to play online via Xbox Live with The Burger King. That\'s right, some lucky gamers will have the chance to play against a celebrity opponent that doesn\'t say anything ever. While I can still see how the idea is amusing, there\'s an irony behind giving people a chance to sit down and chat online with someone that\'s not going to say anything back. When it all boils down to it, you\'ll be talking to an empty void for the length of the game. On the upside, you do get to also play with the New York Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma, but it\'s easy to see which of the two celebrities that Game With Fame is pushing: You register to play at bkgamer.com.
game: Brigade E5: New Jagged Union

Attempting to capitalize on the void left by the \'90s classic Jagged Alliance, Brigade E5: New Jagged Union brings mercenary strategy back to the PC. Sadly, with a poor graphics engine, buggy gameplay, and portions of the dialog that someone forgot to translate from the original Russian during the English conversion of the game, Brigade is a train wreck. The mulitplayer isn\'t functional and the game will sometimes miss event triggers after you beat a mission. Solid it concept, sluggish in execution, you\'ll want to avoid Jagged Union until patches make it playable.
